Where We Work
Root Capital began in 2000, providing loans to coffee cooperatives in Latin America. Since then, Root Capital has expanded rapidly, now working in 29 countries across four continents. While still heavily weighted in sustainable coffee and, increasingly, cocoa, our loan portfolio now includes handcrafts, ecotourism, fisheries, and a wide variety of other sustainable agriculture products.
