The Senior Vice President, Global Programs will oversee all of Root Capital’s programmatic operations, including lending, advisory, and training programs.
Root Capital seeks a motivated and experienced human resources professional to join our organization during an exciting period of expansion to serve as Director of Human Resources & Administration (DHRA). This opening was previously posted as a part-time assistant position but currently holds full-time director status in order to fully engage in the development of Root Capital´s human resources function. S/he will be responsible for the following: managing recruiting, retention, and staff development processes; managing human resources systems such as staff benefits; supervising office operations, including support for our field offices; and fostering a culture that reflects Root Capital’s values. The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of human resources skills that will adapt well to Root Capital´s needs and culture. In addition, candidates should possess: strong relationship-building and teamwork skills, a proactive and service-oriented attitude, project management experience, and a passion for Root Capital’s mission. Spanish fluency and experience recruiting candidates for regional offices in Latin America and/or Africa is a strong plus. Root Capital seeks applications for a proactive and dynamic Operations Associate to provide
administrative support to Root Capital headquarters, the Finance & Operations department, and
organizational operations throughout our offices around the world. The Associate will become the “go to”
person for staff on sundry issues and will frequently communicate and coordinate with them to ensure
smooth operations. The responsibilities of the Associate will include: maintaining a professional,
organized, and healthy office environment; facilitating internal and external general communications;
providing administrative support for the human resources team and Senior Vice President of Finance
and Operations; supporting the coordination of organization-wide activities and communications;
translating documents to and from Spanish; and leading initiatives to minimize the environmental
footprint and increase the social impact of our office and operations.
Root Capital seeks a detail-oriented Portfolio Servicing Associate to join Root Capital’s growing portfolio
servicing team based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Associate will coordinate closely with different
teams within the Lending Department as well as with Root Capital clients in order to conduct loan
transactions, payment processing, and portfolio data reporting. A large percentage of the activities will
be conducted in Spanish, and an increasing amount will be conducted in French.
Root Capital seeks a talented and versatile Staff Writer to join the Business Development and External
Affairs department. Working closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications as well as
senior staff for investor relations, the Writer will be responsible for creating compelling content for
marketing materials and grant proposals, while ensuring consistency in branding and messaging. In
addition, s/he will develop a knowledge management system to capture and share organizational
learning both internally and externally.
Root Capital seeks a strategic thinker and versatile communicator to serve as our Lending & Strategy
Associate. This is a new, cross-functional position within Root Capital that will help shape organizational
strategy, global programs operations, and business development activities. Working closely with the
Director of Innovation & Strategy, the Associate will support the growth of Root Capital’s lending portfolio
to meet industry diversification targets as well as help to develop and implement our organizational
strategy. S/he will meet these goals primarily by conducting research, generating written materials and
presentations, and engaging proactively with prospective borrowers, industry partners, and other key
stakeholders. The Associate will also have related administrative responsibilities.
The Managing Director, Investor Relations will support Root Capital’s
investor relations programs, working closely with and reporting
directly to the Senior Vice President of Business Development and
Corporate Relations. In addition, s/he will be responsible for meeting
and exceeding Root Capital’s philanthropic revenue goals; and will
ensure that donor/investment programs are aligned with organizational
strategies, planning and values.
The Investor Relations Officer will support Root Capital’s investor
relations programs, working closely with and reporting directly to the
Managing Director of Investor Relations. In addition, s/he will ensure
that the donor/investment client relationships and programs are
managed efficiently and in line with Root Capital’s mission and vision.
Root Capital seeks an analytical researcher with strong written and oral communication skills to join our
growing social and environmental impact assessment team. Root Capital’s effort to measure impact in
these key dimensions is focused on three strategies: Social Value Metrics collected at the borrower
enterprise level; Key Performance Indicators to communicate Root Capital’s organizational
effectiveness; and household-level Impact Assessments. The Senior Associate will collaborate with the
Director of Impact Assessment to launch and coordinate Root Capital’s household-level, multi-year
impact assessment studies in Africa. S/he will assist in selecting an appropriate assessment
methodology, designing household surveys, overseeing the data collection process with local survey
firms, analyzing data, and synthesizing the results in reports and white papers.

Root Capital se encuentra en la búsqueda de dos Oficiales de Crédito (IOs, por sus siglas en inglés)
para Centroamérica. Las responsabilidades pueden variar dependiendo de la experiencia de los
aplicantes. Los IOs, en conjunto con el equipo de Root Capital, serán responsables de las siguientes
actividades en Centro América: identificar posibles clientes; realizar visitas de due diligence y analizar
los posibles clientes rigurosamente, utilizando criterios sociales, ambientales y financieros; proveer o
coordinar la asistencia técnica pre-inversión, si es necesario; negociar la forma y/o estructura del
crédito; realizar las propuestas o reportes para el Comité de Crédito o según sea necesario; mantener
excelente relación con los clientes para poder realizar el monitoreo de los créditos; proveer mayor
asistencia técnica, si es necesario; y reunir la mayor información posible para el análisis financiero de
los clientes de Root Capital.
Root Capital seeks applications for two Investment Officers (IO) for South America. The responsibilities
of these positions will vary according to the experience of the applicants. IOs, together with the Root
Capital team, will be responsible for the following activities in South America: identify potential
investments; conduct due diligence visits and analyze the potential investments using rigorous financial,
environmental, and social criteria; provide or coordinate pre-investment technical assistance as
necessary; negotiate the structure of the investment; prepare proposals and reports for the Credit
Committee or as requested; and maintain relationships with clients in order to monitor investments,
provide further technical assistance if necessary, and gather information for Root Capital financial
analyses. Both IOs will be based in Lima, Peru and travel frequently in the region to rural areas.

Root Capital seeks an experienced Investment Officer for Africa who will play a key role in the growth
and innovation of our activities in the region. The IO will be responsible for the following activities in
Africa: source potential investments; conduct due diligence visits; analyze potential investments using
rigorous financial, social impact, and environmental criteria; structure loan proposals; and prepare
reports and loan memos for the Credit Committee. In addition, the IO will lead Root Capital’s initiative to
develop relationships with regional commercial banks and prepare clients to become successful
recipients of commercial financing. S/he will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and travel internationally up to
25% of the time, including to rural areas.
Root Capital seeks a Monitoring Officer to monitor individual loans within Root Capital’s portfolio of trade
credit and capital asset finance loans in Africa. S/he will play a key role in managing the risk presented
by Root Capital’s loans in Africa by performing the following responsibilities: maintaining constant
communication with clients; collecting, processing, and analyzing information on outstanding loans;
evaluating the status of individual loans; proposing remedial actions if necessary; and prepare reports.
The Monitoring Officer will be based in Root Capital’s office in Nairobi.
